Although it isn’t the most exciting part of organising your trip, getting adequate travel insurance is a compulsory part of your PMGY volunteer program.
PMGY have teamed up with insurance provider battleface to create an affordable and comprehensive travel insurance policy for our volunteers. This optional policy is specifically designed to ensure PMGY volunteers have cover for all their travel essentials. There are two options to choose from:
PMGY (Standard) which includes cancellation, medical and emergency expenses, personal accident, baggage, money and passport and a number of limited sports and activities.
PMGY Plus (Comprehensive) which includes all of the above benefits plus a more comprehensive range of activities and sports if you’re planning on a more active volunteer placement.
The policy is available to anyone up to the age of 65 and covers you throughout any PMGY destination including countries under FCDO and government essential and non-essential travel advisories.
It is important that you make sure you’re covered for the whole time you are away, this includes the days spent travelling to/from your volunteer destination. So when working out which duration of cover to purchase you need to count the days you will be away including the day you fly out and the day you return home.
The PMGY insurance includes cover for medical expenses but excludes pre-existing medical conditions which required advice, surgery, treatment, referrals or investigations in the last 12 months. If you have a pre-existing medical condition, please read the terms and conditions of the insurance carefully before you buy to ensure that the policy is suitable for your needs.
Every plan includes 24/7 Emergency Travel and Medical Assistance services provided by battleface’ own Robin Assist. Robin Assist is battleface’ brand name for providing 24/7 responsive customer service, claims, emergency travel and medical assistance. Their operations team consists of multi-lingual talented humans who come from an extensive travel insurance service background.
